Cards:  Why and How are they Issued?

Cards, why are they given and for what types of behavior are they given is defined in the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Soccer Rules Book under sections 5.5.3 Multiple Cards to the Same Player, 12.5 Cautions,12.6 Violations and12.12 Ejections and Player Suspensions. How are they given is an entirely different subject. Most of us will agree that they are given to get behavior modification by the recipient. What I am finding is that we are not getting the desired behavior modification when cards are issued.  Why?  (click below for full article)
